Happy Veteran's Day!

I already sent out an email to all my family and friends regarding this website that a mommy friend of mine mentioned. http://www.bakemeawish.com/operation-birthday-cakes.php (So this might be a repeat!!) It sends birthday cakes to our troops that actually arrive on their birthdays!!! What a novel concept for the military. At any rate, show your love and support and order a cake!

Other than that on this rainy Veterans day I sit here very upset at loosing my only Kyle free place in the house to a ever growing toddler. He has now joined the big people on the couch and I am at all times now playing the laptop shuffle to keep a little ones hands out of mommys work. Luckily he only had to do about 8 or 9 belly flops off the couch to realize there must be an easier and much more graceful way to unload off of the couch. A few bruises and a scratch later, he now knows to flip over onto his tummy and slither to the floor. My reign on the couch has ended.... I am not sure I am happy with the outcome to this hostile take over.... but we shall see.

Have a great Veterans day! To all the men and women proudly serving our country I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for protecting our freedom!

I shall call these pics (like I did on facebook)

How a one year old...

...talks on the phone!

...re-decorates the living room.

...takes over the couch.

...chugs a beer. JUST KIDDING :)

... wears sunglasses for 2.2 seconds.

Halloween 2008

So Kyle was a pirate for Halloween this year, as was mommy! I decided to get all crafty and make our costumes, and they did not turn out too bad! All three of us matched at Kyle's party, but daddy is a bah-hum-bug when it comes to Halloween. He swears that people are just casing the house. Whatever!

Dad was not home in time anyway, so me and the kid sat on the front porch in the blowup swimming pool filled with plastic balls and a bucket'o candy. We were pirates with buried treasure at sea. I was going for a theme here ;) J/K I didn't even think about the last part until a quick witted 8 year old neighbor pointed it out.

It was a good Halloween. Not as many kiddos as we usually see, but still a good chunk. Kyle was very interested in handing out candy and I was handed the entire bucket piece by piece several times. I would say thank you and he would nod, and hand me the next piece. Ahh hours of entertainment! Also entertaining mommy for the evening was the beautiful sound of a kazoo played by a 1 year old. Prodigy? Probably not, but oh well.

Our friends Collin and Ainsley stopped by to say hi! Collin was super shy and wanted nothing to do with us, but Ainsley was more than happy to take a picture with Kyle! She tried to hold his hand, and he litterally melted into the pool behind him. She had on kitty ears and face paint and he was a bit freaked out by the large red headed kitty!

So here are some pics of the kid! Happy Haunting!

1 Year Check Up!

Man he is a big kid!

So we went to the doctor Thursday the 30th for Kyle's 1 year check up. He came in weighing 26.4 pounds, putting him in the 90th percentile. He was 33 inches tall!!! That puts him in the greater than 97th percentile. He has stayed in the same percentages from the start so we are good there!

Other than that I talked with Dr. Hillner about him not talking yet. When I say he is not talking yet, he mumbles, but really has yet to call me "mama" or Kyle "dada". He really doesn't seem to care. However, if you ask him to point to dada or mama, he does that! Dr. Hillner stated that since he started walking so early, he would not be suprised if he was a late talker. He told me not to freak out yet ;), more than likely he was more concerned with becoming mobile and now that he is, he will start talking any day now!

He got a few shots, had a TB test, and then we went to CPL for blood work! Poor little man was exhausted after all that and when we got home he was asleep. So asleep I was able to take him out of the car, take off his socks and shoes, change his diaper, put him in a pair of shorts, clip his finger and toe nails, take off all the bandaids, wash his hands where the blood was, and put him in bed without waking up!!!! He was out!

Here is a picture of him passed out on the changing table!

Overall, yay for a great check up!

Unbelievable...

To my dear Kyle Andrew,

Exactly one year ago on this day a miracle happened. We headed to the hospital to get ready for your arrival. At about 12:00pm a nurse stated that it was time for you to be born. The nurses, daddy, mommy, Aunt Jamie, Cissy, and Grammy all joined hands as Grandpa said a prayer. Grandpa left the room and the nurses began working. 26 minutes later, you entered this world at 8lbs 11oz and screaming! Man you have some healthy lungs.

The doctors and nurses laid you on my chest and daddy and I marveled at what an amazing gift you are. You were born into this world surrounded by family and love, so much love. You still are surrounded by love today. In fact, I did not think it was possible, but I love you more and more each day. With each smile, with each new discovery, my heart explodes with feelings that words simply can not express.

This past year has been so full with all of your milestones and the desire to grow up so quickly! At 5 days old you began rolling over. At 2 months old you were rolling over all the time. At 6 months old you began army crawling. At 8 months old you began pulling up, walking around furniture, and hands and knees crawling. At 10 months old you begn walking. It blows me away to think about how much you have accomplished in one year. Only by Gods guiding hand and the occasional (ok, frequent) knots on your head was it possible.

You have your daddys watch and learn attitude, my smile, and your dads build. You are the best of both of us. You love to sleep and you come by it honestly, you also LOVE to eat, I am sorry to say that is a passed down quality as well.

Everyday I thank God for choosing us to be your parents. You are an amazing little man, you are mommys little man, and I love you with all my heart.

~mom

Tractors, pumpkins and boats oh my!

Our little man is almost a year old..... wow... as I type this I have 11 days! He has been a very busy man recently. Helping mommy with laundry, talking up a storm, playing on the boat, playing with his new tractor, and helping carve pumpkins!

His new tractor is a thing of beauty in the eyes of both Kyles. GiGi bought it as an early birthday present and he LOVES it. He has recently learned that it can be used if pushed close enough as a step stool to retrieve interesting artifacts off the entertainment center. Lovely...

To pick our pumpkin carving stencil, we laid several design choices on the floor, showed Kyle each one, then set him down. He picked the bat by pointing, grinning, and handing it to daddy! Did he know what he was doing? Or was he guided by mommy and daddy oooo'ing and ahhh'ing? I shall say, he knew exactly what he was doing.... He is that smart.... ;) (I am his mother, so I get away with delusions right?)

Anyway, enjoy some more pics of the kiddo!

Wanted: Lake and a Helmet

Ok, so at church this morning I was going to leave the kiddo in the nursery for the first time with out me. There usually is not a set attendant, but today there was. So I was actually going to get to go to church!

Anyway, as I am leaving the room he pulls up on a shelving unit, steps on some rolly toy thing, slips falls, and catches his fall with his face.
UGH...
Insert screaming here and me turning back around. I pick him up and looky there he has a 2 cm gash right below his eye and a scratch that goes from above his eyebrow down onto his cheek.
So 20 min of bleeding later, I spent yet another Sunday in the nursery!

So after a trip to Casa Ole and the grocery store. Both Kyles took a much needed nap. Then we headed to the lake! It was a beautiful day!!!!!!

Here are a few pics from our afternoon!

Other than that, this weekend was busy! We had a garage sale Saturday and man, those things just wipe you out!!!! We had people trying to look in our frosted garage windows at dawn. I swear, I opened the door into the garage and there were outlines of peoples heads in each window like little raccoons. Just pure maddness. But at any rate we made some extra cash for our upcoming small vacation for Kyle's 1st birthday to SeaWorld and Texas Safari! Woohoo! Ya, ya I know, he won't remember it, but we will! And mommy loves Sea World! :0)

While you were out....

Ok, so maybe it was while I was out! Another month has passed and I am 34 days away from my baby turning a year old! That is just utterly insane...... Life is going on as usual over here. I increased my working hours to 32 hours a week. Thus the lack in family updates! It is not bad, but sitting this much is KILLING me! Luckily Kyle sleeps thru most of my working hours, since he is an early riser and long afternoon napper! yay!

On the daddy Kyle / general news front it has been a slow month for car sales thanks to good ole Ike freaking everyone out. Thanks Ike! Speaking of "him" we managed to escape the dirty side of the storm and just got wind and rain. Our fence kinda leaned and we had a few large branches in our backyard. Other than that, it was business as usual except daddy was home!!! Speaking of daddy, he is amazing. I seriously could not be blessed more with such a great husband and daddy.

On the baby Kyle front, it amazes me daily that 11 months ago, the little guy was not even born. Now he is walking, waving bye bye, saying bye bye, can shake his head yes or no in response to a question, and knows the sign for eat! Wow, so much happens in such a short period of time. God really does do amazing things, and I am reminded of that every morning as I walk in Kyle's room and say good morning to my beautiful son. He is also now able to climb in and out of his favorite tug boat all by himself. It reminds me of the Tyson chicken commercial, "We have a climber!" He almost got up on the couch today by himself as well... Im not ready for that nonsense.

On the doggie front, the poor neglected doggie front, the girls are good. Nellie has become a barker due to new neighbor dogs and Jade had to have surgery last week to have some teeth removed. Talk about making me feel bad!!!! She got extra loving since I felt it was my falt for letting her weekly teeth brushing fall to the wayside. At any rate, Nellie lives now with her bark collar on constantly, and Jade is terrified if you come near her with hers.

Ok, enough typing... here are some pictures! Y'all take care!
