Plant a seed...

So, yes I have been an absent blogger.  I am pretty sure I always will be.  If anyone out there reads this, sorry :)

I have decided to grow things.  Tomato plants to be exact.  From seed no less.  Why would you do that Heather?  I have no clue, other than I am tired of buying massive amounts of cherry tomatos at the store for my son who thinks they are red berries. 

Here is my progress thus far:

First I purchased a Cherry Tomato seed packet and a Jiffy-7 peat pellet window sill green house. (On sale at Home Depot, grand total for both items $4.65)  You add hot water to the tray and watch the pellets expand.  Once expanded you plant 3-4 seeds in each pellet.  Then cap with enclosed clear lid.

Next you wait :)  It really wasn't that bad, it took maybe 5-6 days to turn into this:

Now that it is at this stage, I was instructed to leave it open and DO NOT WATER for an additional 5-6 days.

Now we get to transplant day.  I went and purchased Organic potting soil and a planter (Grand total after coupons $6.75) and now the little pellets get planted in the planter.  Here it is as of today:

So now we wait some more!  Hopefully these guys will take off so I don't feel like I completely wasted my money.

I can't believe this worked

Ok, so I am a terrible blogger. However as Kyle's half birthday is around the corner I am feeling the need for a post. Wow... he is almost (4 days away from) 2.5 years old. So much has happened in those 2.5 years, and he has grown into quite the little man with a HUGE personality.

So I saw this on my friend Brandy's blog and wondered.... Will Kyle actually answer these questions? Much to my surprise, he did! So here is what I got...

So much for getting better at blogging..

I guess saying I am going to get better at blogging is like saying I am going to diet. hahahaha.

Here is what we have been up to:

Kyle and I test drove a few mommy groups here in Houston to see if any fit with us. Found one that we do like, and the great thing is they have play dates 6 days a week! So there is always something to do if we want to get out of the house.

We have been stuck indoors a lot lately thanks to this crazy rain we have had. We have been waiting to get our backyard landscaped and put in our new patio until it dries out enough for the builder to come re-grade the dirt. So much for that happening, right now we could host mud wrestling in the backyard.

Kyle and I, along with our good friend Allison, have been exploring Houston every Wednesday. So far we have adventured to the Alley Theatre(ok so this was just mommy, Allison and her brother Keith), downtown tunnels, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and Memorial Park.

We are LOVING our new house. Kyle loves his playroom. We spend 90% of our time in that room during the day. I am still working from home for ReyRey and this playroom has given me the great opportunity to set up shop in a chair in the corner and still be part of the action (aka vroom vroom).

We have decided on a Mothers Day Out / Pre-school program for little man. It is with a LCMS church in Jersey Village. Kyle will start in September and will go Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-2pm.

What is little Kyle doing these days?

• Well he has slowed down growing some. He is still way bigger than most kids his age, rounding out that 95-100% in both height and weight.
• He loves driving cars everywhere. By far cars are his favorite toys.
• As for TV he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Word World and a new show I found called Auto-B-Good. Movies he really likes are A Bugs Life, Cars, and Finding Nemo.
• He has become extremely picky about what shoes he is wearing and gets really upset if you don't let him pick.
• He loves fish sticks and b-burbers (cheese burgers) but will destroy corn on the cob instantly! He still eats most fruit, not including melon (those are yucky). He also still eats most veggies, but not quite with the same enthusiasm as before.
• He is becoming quite the talker, considering he didn't have anything to say until he was about 18 months old. I speak fluent Kyle, but most people can get the gist of what he is talking about. He is putting together sentences well. For example, I didn't understand what toy he wanted and he said, "Mommy, I will show you. Follow Kyle."
• He can recognize about 13 letters without prompting and likes to shout from the backseat of the truck different letters that he sees. His favorite letter is M.
• Numbers are still on the fence, but he can count to 4 without messing up. However if you add 5 into the mix you get "2, 3, 5" His favorite number is 2 without a doubt.
• If you ask him how old he is, he will argue to the death that he is "2 days"
• He knows what a square, rectangle, circle, heart, star, and triangle are, and tries to draw them. The only one he has mastered is the circle :)
• He loves to help. No matter what you are doing, he wants to help. It can be frustrating, but I know he gets so excited about helping.
• He LOVES babies. He talks about babies all the time. Talks about how he wants to be a big brother. We will see.
• He makes up silly songs and titles them. This usually happens while we are in the car. Some examples of song titles are, "Backseat of daddy's truck song", "The mommy song", "The big truck in front of us song" These songs usually come with crazy spastic dancing and big belly laughs because he finds himself hilarious.
• If you tell him we are going to Target he says, "Icee please!" :)

Ok, sorry for the really LONG post, with NO pictures, however I haven't been taking many pictures lately. I promise I will get better at it!

A whole new world.

Well, I figured this new year, new home, new job, new everything deserved a fresh new look. So..... I have decided to start a brand new blog. (Well that and my old blog won't let me use my new email address and that is really annoying :-) )

So, here we are.

2010, wow.

• 10 years have passed since I graduated high school
• 8 years have passed since I met Kyle
• 7 years have passed since I was diagnosed with cancer
• 6 years have passed since I became his wife
• 5 years since I had all test show no more cancer cells for a whole year
• 4 years since I was told I would never have children
• 3 years since I found out I was pregnant
• 2.5 years since my Uncle Bobby passed away
• 2 years since I became a mommy
• 1.5 years since I have been able to stay home with my son full time
• 5 months since Kyle lost his job
• 3 months since we sold our house in Bryan College Station and moved to Houston
• 2 months since my daddy had a stroke
• 1 month in my brand new home with my Kyle's

That is a lot in 10 years!

A high school friend of mine posted on her blog about choosing only 1 word to set as a resolution for the new year. (Thanks Jen :) ). I decided to hop on the band wagon and choose my word.

My 1 word resolution for 2010 - Appreciation

I need to take a step back from every aspect of my life and make sure I appreciate every piece. Appreciate my son trying to help me hang pictures on the wall instead of getting frustrated that he keeps hiding the nails. Appreciate my husband working as hard as possible to provide for Kyle and I, not get frustrated that he isn't home on time. Appreciate our families amazing help, love and support, not get frustrated by grandparent re-programing (any parent will understand this statement).

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. I just need to get back at looking at the positive side to the coin.

OK, I also need to work on the whole blogging thing :)

Case of the Mondays

Yes I would like some cheese with my whine.

UGH.

Done. Period.

I am so tired of being positive and happy and smiley. Things suck in the world of Heintschel right now and I need a small pity party. So I am throwing myself one here on my blog. Be fair warned it is full of whining and complaining, totally one sided thoughts, and if you have spent anytime with me in the last month you might already know it all.

So if you might be offended (and just to let you know I am not complaining about anyone person here, just situations) by my ranting, just go to another blog for the day.

1. Kyle looses his job. Yes, this statement is completely and totally sucky. As I write this we just surpassed the 1 month unemployed mark and it was a milestone I never wanted to see. I understand these things happen, and trust me, I have said that OVER AND OVER the last month. I know we will be ok, but right now we are looking at a lot of mud on the window and I can't see the other side. However, my husband will never know how unbelievably stressed I am about this situation. It is my role to support him, love him, pray with him, and help him find a job. It is not my place to bring him down with stuff he already knows. (And no he won't find any of this out because I am not sure he even knows we have a blog.)

2. The complete trip from HELL aka Disneyworld. Ugh.

3. My son apparently coming into the terrible 2's at a running start. Hissy fits, hitting, biting, screaming like he is loosing skin, tantrums, throwing himself on the ground, running away from me, sticking stuff in his mouth while running from me, the horrible word NO, not wanting to hold my hand, etc. How am I coping? Anything and everything is what I am trying. Some days threats work, other days time out works, other days it is spanking. I know this is a phase, but I am ready for this to be over.

4. Big Kyle gets the flu. yay. Yuck.

5. Big Kyle gets a migraine that requires a trip to urgent care. yippee.

4 + 5 = 5 days of single parenting, house steralizing, and two whiney Kyles.

As I said at the beging of the post, I am done. I need a break, and I praying that tomorrow at Kyles drug test / criminal background check for a job in Houston, they tell us yes he is hired. Then, maybe then we can have forward motion with one foot on the moving sidewalk that has been knocking us all on our butts for the last month.
